The Club's Identity
The Sustainability Club of the ÖH MCI Innsbruck is a student initiative of the Student Body at MCI Innsbruck (ÖH MCI). The club’s goal is to actively promote sustainable development in ecological, social, and economic terms and to implement it visibly and effectively through concrete projects, events, and collaborations. The club sees itself as a platform and source of inspiration for engaged students who want to take on responsibility, network, and contribute to the sustainable development of MCI as well as to a sustainable society. As a community and initiator, the club brings together commitment, develops practical approaches, and supports their implementation within the university context. The club is a nonprofit organization and operates within the framework of the applicable agreements and guidelines of the öh mci.
Basic Principles of Membership
Membership in the Sustainability Club is based on the following fundamental principles:
- Openness: The club is open to all MCI students.
- Voluntary participation: Involvement is on a voluntary basis.
- Responsibility: Members take responsibility for their actions and contributions within the club.
- Value-Orientation: Members are committed to the goals and values of sustainable development.
- Respect: A respectful and professional approach forms the basis of our collaboration.
Membership Requirements
Any person enrolled as a student at MCI Innsbruck may become a member. No specific academic background in sustainability is required. Membership for individuals outside the student body is permitted only in justified exceptional cases and with the consent of the öh mci.
Admission Process
Admission to the Sustainability Club follows a transparent and accessible process:
- Registration via a provided form
- Attend a welcome or introductory session ( recommended)
- Confirmation of membership by the organizing team
The form includes a brief statement of motivation to help clarify your interests and expectations.
Membership Categories
To encourage participation and provide structure, the club distinguishes between the following types of membership:
Support Member
- Participation in events and activities
- No obligation to actively participate
- Access to information about club activities
Active Member
- Active participation in projects or initiatives
- Regular participation in meetings or working groups
- Right to participate in and (optionally) vote on internal club decisions
Core Team
- Assumption of organizational or strategic responsibility
- Leading projects or work areas
- Helping to shape the club’s future development
Assignment to these categories is based on actual level of involvement and may be adjusted over time.
Expectations for Members
All members are expected to:
- To identify with the goals of the Sustainability Club
- to treat one another with respect and reliability
- to act responsibly in the context of projects and activities
Active Members and the Core Team are also expected to:
- Active participation in projects or tasks Adherence to agreed-upon contributions and deadlines Constructive teamwork
- as well as the responsible use of resources in line with the club’s sustainability goals
Development and Commitment
The club promotes the personal and professional development of its members. Levels of involvement can vary—from an initial interest to active participation or a leadership role.
Switching between membership categories is possible at any time and is actively encouraged.
Termination of Membership
Membership ends automatically upon completion of one’s studies. It may be terminated at any time by informal written notice. In addition, the following applies:
. In the event of prolonged inactivity, a member’s status may be reclassified as “Support Member.”
Expulsion is possible in exceptional cases, particularly in the event of a gross violation of the club’s values or behavior harmful to the club
The Core Team decides on expulsion after hearing the person concerned
